Ever wonder where your taxes go? I mean besides paying people not to work, lining the pockets of union bosses, taking care of other people’s kids when you work hard just to support yours, stimulating multi-billion dollar banks and car companies, and big bonuses for corrupt “green” company executives while their stimulated companies go bankrupt.
Well, they go to hire dweebs like Chief Diversity Officer John Robinson at the State Department. Foxnews reports: State Department: ‘Hold down the fort,’ other common phrases could be offensive. Robinson informs us that common expressions like “holding down the fort,” “going Dutch,” and “rule of thumb” are racist. Sound like familiar idiocy? How about “Black and Tan” being a racist beverage?
Really? American taxpayers paid somebody probably a senior executive salary to come up with that junk? It’s almost too much to realize that good men and women labor in dangerous places in the world, some literally under fire, while someone sits in a comfy office coming up with this garbage. This isn’t what made America great. Rather, it’s what George Orwell wrote about in his novel 1984 and came to pass in the Soviet Union and other communist countries.
Worse, even Robinson admits that these are “possible origins”. He is turning rumors and legends into policy.
Language is a tool that indeed evolves, but not the way that Robinson imagines. Meanings change over time and rise above their possible origins; words and phrases do not freeze in time. Get over it. And get a real job.
