Rare October snow adds to interesting year in Virginia

Well, so far this year we’ve had a 5.8 magnitude earthquake, Hurricane Irene, and now an October snow storm. The record for October snow has already been tied at Reagan National, but there’s possibly another wave of snow yet to come. We only received a light covering here, but it is only October. I took these pictures while out and about as the heavier snow was starting:

Again, this was as the heavy snow started. It’s too dark to take pictures now. It got a tad slushy on the roads, but hardly more than simply wet. It is supposed to freeze tonight which will make driving interesting. The USMC Marathon is tomorrow morning, which should be interesting. No one saw this coming.

2011 has certainly been interesting so far. I guess all that’s left for the year is the zombie apocalypse. Keep your ammo dry!
