Are we dead yet? Nope, just our courage.

Wesley Pruden has a great piece over at the Washington Times: A pandemic of panic — are we dead yet? Here’s how it starts:

We were all supposed to be in the graveyard by now, done in by AIDS, SARS, bird flu, poisoned peanut butter, Hong Kong flu, killer tomatoes, global warming and strangulation by kudzu. But here we are, proof that there really is life after death.

Don’t miss the rest of his piece. Yep, from the people who brought you global cooling in the 1970’s, global warming now, overpopulation, and the ever-popular “Alar on your apples” comes a new crisis to help sell worthless newspapers by panicking the uninformed. We’ve become a nation of wimps and whiners – all officially sanctioned by our new socialist government. No need to take personal responsibility for ourselves, Obamessiah will take care of us. He has a gift:

Just look at the panic in New York City over an aircraft photo opportunity. An airplane flies over the Statue of Liberty and a horde of folks abandon buildings in abject panic. The terrorists are probably celebrating in the wilds of Afghanistan – they have apparently defeated our once-legendary courageous spirit. Will we let fear rule our lives? Obama is certainly using fear and panic, skillfully stoking it to justify the nationalizing of U.S. banks, investment houses and auto companies. For the false promise that the Obamessiah will save us, we’re surrendering our liberty.

A little over 250 years ago, a handful of farmers, merchants, and a few professional soldiers challenged the greatest military power on the face of the earth and beat it at great sacrifice to win our independence. About 60 years ago, brave Americans fought and many died to defeat fascism in Europe and naked imperialism in the Orient. Today, we panic over a very few sick people and an airplane buzzing the Statue of Liberty. Sheesh.

How far the mighty have fallen.
