Mr. Obama, Freedom is always worth the price

I just saw this video (HT: Foxnews). Apparently, over 11 million people beat me to it. I had tears in my eyes by the end. This young veteran says it better and with more heart than I ever could. Just watch:

Like this young veteran, John McCain has given his physical well-being for his country. The judgment and lessons learned in that experience make John McCain a better leader, more able to appreciate the blessings that come with, and the sacrifices required to keep, our freedom. McCain has been tested, not in back room meetings with the socialist New Party, or running for office from the homes of domestic terrorists like Bill Ayers, but under the toughest conditions unimaginable to civilized people. He was tested, passed, and is a better leader for it.

Joe Biden says that the world would test Barack Obama within six months if he became president. The world won’t have to test John McCain. He’s been there, done that, and mastered the test. The Iranian government and their terrorist “students” tested the Carter administration for 444 days while they held American hostages. Yet those 52 hostages were released just minutes after President Reagan took the oath of office. Iran did not dare test Reagan’s resolve, just as the world won’t dare try John McCain’s.

Freedom trusts its citizens. John McCain won’t take away your guns or your right to self-defense as Barack Obama has voted to do time after time. That’s because John McCain was held captive and tortured by a socialist country that could only exist by force because it denied its citizens those same rights. Freedom has a price that includes contant vigilance by an armed citizenry. The first step towards tryanny is to disarm the citizenry. That’s what the British tried to do to the American colonies ca. 1775. We all know how that worked out. Our forefathers chose freedom at a great personal price. That’s why our founders wrote the 2nd Amendment – so that it would never happen again. According to Justice Joseph Story, the youngest Supreme Court justice ever appointed, in his commentary on the Constitution (1833):

The right of a citizen to keep and bear arms has justly been considered the palladium of the liberties of the republic, since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers, and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them.

Fear the government that fears your guns.

Vote for Freedom. Vote for John McCain.
