When I was trying to upgrade from Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04 LTS but had serious issues, the Ubuntu 2D option saved my bacon. However, the Unity launcher icons were HUGE. I rarely use the 2D setup, but still didn’t want the huge launcher icons.
But there are options! There’s a simple script here that can change the icons size. I ran it and it works great. I decreased mine from the default 48 to the minimum size of 32.
Also, there’s a simple program to change some basic behavior of the 2D desktop here. I used it to set the Unity launcher to Dodge Windows. Very cool.
These changes make 2D almost fun!
